Controlled Substance

"Controlled substance" is a relatively loose term when it comes to various prescription pharmaceuticals. I would imagine the big no no is to actually acknowledge the truth and call bullshit.

Xanax, Valium, Hydrocodone, Soma: These things are really controlled aren't they? (it's okay to laugh now)

Here's a bottom line the WOD won't acknowledge either. The pharm industry is not venture capitalism. In other words, they don't make a bunch of pills in the hopes that they will sell. Each and every one is accounted for and paid for when it leaves the facility it is made in. In other words, trace the illicit trade of prescription drugs, follow the dollar, and at the top of the food chain is the company that made it to begin with. They got their cut right off the top, everything after is middleman. Bottom dollar goes to the manufacturer.

So let's get something straight. The increasing availability of the above mentioned drugs in the illicit drug market is coming from the factories themselves. The pharm companies are your new drug lords.

When was the last time you saw an anti drug ad expounding on the dangers of muscle relaxers, anti-anxiety, and pain relievers? Right, you didn't. You won't. When was the last time you saw an anti drug ad expounding on the 'dangers' (insert sarcastic guffaw) of something they don't make? Right, every day.

It's called organized crime for a reason.

Just something to think about.
