There are dozens and dozens of documentaries and thousands of hours of footage of indigenous peoples being evicted,murdered, and having their homes destroyed right here on planet earth. While the latest 3d epic is actually quite entertaining I'm presented with an example of cognitive dissonance or perhaps just an ignorrance of that fact. Here, on planet Earth there are human beings who face allegorically the same type of fate that the big blue aliends do in the movie. Perhaps a run with additional documentaries as an extra would have been nice. Instead, I was treated to giant military recruitment ads.
As far as NYE, kick ass! Although I had a good friend experiencing a negative situation the whole of the night was very good. I regretted missing a chunk of the music but had to help her navigate some nasty demons popping up. I also got to recite a very old Buddhist mantra on the floor during Nivlem's set. The mantra consists of power sounds. These sounds when chanted cause vibrations towards universal harmony within one's self and a chain reaction outward. I immediately felt a resonance and only later found out that the AO crew had employed Vasthu in setting up the place. Very good! Originally I had planned on climbing a big hill as the sun set but things got in motion much earlier than expected and I couldn't do it. That's how it goes though and it turns out good! I am very thankful to the crew for putting so much into setting up a positive environment and to a mentor who passed the mantra to me. I believe that my friend who's demons were rearing would have been far worse off had it not been for so much loving and positive energy flowing around.
... and now it's 2010. Just another number?
